Trail Report

Crisp, cold and sunny was the temp today!! Morning low at -17, rising to -8 for a high. Cold, for sure, but still folks out enjoying the fantastic conditions and fresh tracks set early this morning on Sap Run, Mother Hen, Sukkerbusk, Twin Lakes, JibFly and Mother North Star trails.  Skaters Waltz groomed early as well than groomed again a couple of times in the afternoon pulling snow from the sides. The snow is really starting to pile up after 8″ of fresh snowfall over the weekend. No official measurements taken the past few days but the base is building up nicely in the 8″ range and snow depth in the woods between 16-24″!  Grooming Monday on trails used for DL Invite on Tuesday as well as tracking on Rootin Tootin and Bullhead possibly. Thanks to everyone who came and stayed at Maplelag over the Holidays. If you have any pictures to share, please send them to [email protected] and we will post them on our guest photo album.

Trail Report

Another snowy Saturday. This makes four Saturdays in a row we have seen accumulating snowfall!! Total snowfall today was around 6″. Total snowfall in the 24 hour period was around 7-8″.  Twin Lakes, Sap Run, Sukkerbusk, Wavy Gray, Mother Hen, Mother North Star were groomed early this morning with tracks set before the snow after the 2″ last night. Skaters Waltz and North Loup also groomed for skating and a track was set on the side of North Loup for classic. Snow all day covered up the tracks but still some fantastic skiing with the snow falling and no wind making for very “cozy” conditions. Temp managed to stay in the teens making for pleasant temps before giving way to wind and falling temps late Saturday evening. Grooming on Sunday planned for Twin lakes, Sukkerbusk, Mother North Star and Sap run and possibly Skaters Waltz. Cold and windy forecasted so grooming will be on hold until Monday morning where the trails used for the Detroit Lakes invite will be groomed frequently to have the best conditions possible for the meet on Tuesday. Photos from the weekend on Sunday evenings trail report.

Trail Report

Another flip flop in temps after -30 recordings December 31st, 26+ the morning of January 1st then falling temps again this morning the 2nd of January at -8. Should be a great day on tap with the wind settled down from yesterday, clear skies and sunshine. Grooming on the trails this morning with new tracks set on select trails and skate paths refreshed. Another weekend storm possibly on tap for the weekend!! The winter season of 2008/2009 is panning out like a good old fashioned winter. Ski conditions are very good to excellent with around 7-8″ compacted snow on the trails and 1-2 feet of snow depth in the woods.

Trail Report

Wow, the end of December turning out nicely with around 4″ fresh snow today. Bit more snowfall on the western trail system it seemed. About as good as it gets with fresh snow falling in the morning and clearing late afternoon with sunshine.  Ideal grooming conditions with just the right amount of snow as the entire trail system was groomed today except Roy’s Run, Island Lake and Lucky’s Loype. This trails are on tap for grooming tomorrow and some of the trails tracked today will be touched up as well. Should be a fantastic last day of December as we usher in 2009.
