Despite temps in the negative double digits most of the MLK weekend, we had a great weekend of skiing. Cold weather not stopping the guests staying at Maplelag over the weekend from hitting the trails. Looks to gradually warm up and with the mid winter ski conditions, doesn’t get any better. Great job to all the skiers that braved the cold including the early morning skiers that went out in -30 temps on Sunday morning. Dressed properly, protected from the wind and abundant sunshine make for great January skiing.
We groomed all of the trails we have been grooming this year on Friday. The 6″ of snow from Thursday groomed in nicely and making for very nice conditions. The trails are always open and will not close because of cold weather or windchill.
Trails that have been groomed and open with tracks set: Sukkerbusk, Twin Lakes, North Loup, Rootin Tootin, Mother North Star, Sap Run, Wavy Gravy, Island Lake and JibFly. Skaters Waltz, the extension groomed for skating. Please no skating on trails other than Skaters Waltz, and the extension of Skaters. Trails open with skier made track include Roy’s Run, Lucky’s Loype and Bullhead. Please note portions of certain trails will not be groomed this year due to change in the lease on AMA property.
Total snowfall since December 15th=19″, compacted base on trail 4-6″. Overall the trails have very good coverage, a few rough spots on the marsh/lake crossings to use caution, especially on Bullhead trail. Ski with caution and enjoy! Total snowfall since December 1st, 25″. Total snowfall since November 20th= 27″. We had a warm spell that melted most of the snow from November 20th and December 1st other than the north facing areas. First grooming of the season on November 20th after 2″ of snowfall.
The trails are open for public day skiing. Trail access pass is $15. Ski rental is $15 a day. After January 3rd, lunch will be available for day skiers during the Midweek by reservation. Contact us to reserve and for pricing.

Mid winter skiing conditions. Latest trail report on the trail report page.
Fresh snow! Just under 7″ of snow the past 24 hours. Grooming today on most of the trail system. Great weekend of skiing on tap! Cold temps in the forecast but nothing colder than what we have seen already and the trails have been busy regardless of the weather. Bundle up, protect the extremities, ski shorter loops and be smart to enjoy the fabulous mid winter conditions! The trails are always open and we never close them because of cold weather. We feel there is no windchill when dressed properly, skiing in the woods protected from the wind.
What a picture perfect day for the DL Invite. Wow! Click here for photos. We groomed most of the classic trails upon conclusion of the race and are out this morning grooming, preparing the trails for the MLK weekend.
