Fat Bike Trail Report

The trails will be closed until further notice. A check of the singletrack trails Tuesday morning after it froze down hard found mostly snow free singletrack on the east side that was good riding but connected with icy ski trail sections. The west side or Twin Lakes singletrack pretty much ribbons of ice, not rideable and closed. The trails will open again after the frost is out or by chance conditions change to open for end of winter/early spring.

Sapicle

Sap dripping from a broken maple tree branch and turning to ice. After warm temps that saw sap running yesterday,  it has now frozen down hard.

Trail Report

Warm temps and wind overnight melting a lot of snow. Still good coverage on Skaters Waltz and North Loup for a morning ski but the trails are now closed until cooler weather and new snow.

Total snowfall on season 59″.

Start of Sap Run Thursday morning, February 23rd, 2017. Fast tracks since skied on while snow was wet but velcro like surface for edging. Sap Run with thin cover on ridges, better coverage on second half. Use caution!

Fat Bike Trail Report

Great riding this weekend in the mornings. Good seeing all the folks out on the trail and new folks trying the rentals for the first time. The twin lakes singletrack is now closed to fat biking until it cools down again. We should be able to open the trail again on Tuesday morning. This time of year, the best riding will be in the mornings from 6am-11am and long term forecast looks good for riding next weekend.

The Twin Lakes singletrack loop is a challenging technical winter fat biking course. The loop is around 5 miles. There are also nearby forest roads that provide additional fat biking opportunities. Thanks to Ben Olson who took on the role of machine grooming Twin Lakes singletrack this year.

There is no fee to ride the trails the remainder of the winter season.

Will have fat bikes available for rent. There is no fat biking allowed on the ski trails.
