Warm temps and gusty winds this week has pretty much melted all of the snow that was on the trails. A few patches here and there of ice/snow but otherwise the trails are drying up nicely. Even though the surface is “dry” the water tables are at record levels with area ponds and sloughs high with water. The southern exposed sections of singletrack have dried out and rideable but the rest of the trails need a week or less of drying before we can open the mountain bike course for riding. We will start working on the trail next week, weather permitting, and should have the trails open possibly next weekend. Not much signs Spring in the woods but a few more days we should start to see some green.
A nice weekend of Spring like skiing with fast conditions in the morning turning to softer and slower in the afternoon. We are done grooming the trails for the year. Thanks to everyone who came to Maplelag and helped make it a great year. Check back on the trail reports page to catch up on the latest nature observations with photos as we transition through the seasons.
