Although riding is possible in the mornings when it freezes down at night, warm days and sunshine on the south facing slopes leaves the door open for trail damage. The trails are closed until they dry out completely. Depending on the thaw, it could be middle to end of April before we can open the mountain bike trails. We will update at least once a week on trail status.
We will resume trail work on the new trail near Bullhead lake on the Maplelag property once conditions are are favorable. We will also be building new beginner trails for winter riding.
Norwegian Pancakes served every Saturday morning during the winter and most fall and spring weekends. This popular meal features imported lingonberries, sour cream, pure maple syrup and farm sausage along with home made 7 grain hot cereal.
All meals are home cooked, prepared from scratch. We use only fresh and as many local ingredients as possible, and serve the meals family style. We are able to accommodate all dietary needs with advance notice. Food is something we take very serious at Maplelag!
Dusting of new snow overnight. We groomed this morning and last night the loop we have been grooming on this past week. A ski mid day found slightly better conditions. There are some good sections that makes for nice skiing but other sections very hard and icy. We will have this loop open for any diehard local skiers looking for one last ski. All other trails are closed and the loop will most likely close on Thursday.
End of Sap Run ski trail, March 7th, 2017. Typical of most of the trails which have a ice base coverage.
Skaters Waltz, March 7th, 2017. Besides the Kamikaze hill section, there is good coverage but it is pretty much solid ice and about impossible to ski on with below freezing temps.Back side of Skaters Waltz good coverage but tough skiing with rock hard icy base. March 7th, 2017.Heading down Suicide Hill, March 7th, 2017. Yikes!
