Awesome start for 2016! Sunshine and lower 20’s with “hero snow” making for great skiing. Frosty winter wonderland conditions on Monday. Most recent grooming on Skaters Waltz and Suicide Hill, and new track set on Rootin Tootin. Skiing being reported good to excellent. (Thanks for skiers filing a trail report) We will continue daily grooming until the last day of the season provided conditions warrant. We do not groom just to groom but only if to improve the conditions. We do not have a deep base of snow but for the snow we have, skiing is very good.
Trails that have been groomed and open with tracks set: Sukkerbusk, Twin Lakes, North Loup, Root Tootin, Mother North Star, Sap Run and JibFly. Skaters Waltz, the extension and North Loup open and groomed for skating. Please no skating on trails other than Skaters Waltz, the extension of Skaters and North Loup. Other trails are open for “bush whack skiing” Wavy Gravy, Roy’s Run, Lucky’s Loype and Island Lake. Open for bush whack/make your own track skiing. Please note portions of certain bushwhack trails will not be groomed this year due to change in the lease on AMA property.
Total snowfall since December 15th=10″, compacted base on trail 2-4″. All trails have sections of very good coverage and few short sections with some rough spots. Ski with caution and enjoy! Total snowfall since December 1st, 16″. Total snowfall since November 20th= 18″. We had a warm spell that melted most of the snow from November 20th and December 1st other than the north facing areas. First grooming of the season on November 20th after 2″ of snowfall.
The trails are open for public day skiing. Trail access pass is $15. Ski rental is $15 a day. After January 3rd, lunch will be available for day skiers by reservation. Contact us to reserve and for pricing.
