Continued warm weather over the weekend and lack of freezing nights the past 8 days has pretty much wiped out the snow on the trails. There are still swaths through the woods but mostly slush, ice and water. The trails are closed for the season and will open again for hiking, running and biking when the frost goes out. Thanks to everyone who came to Maplelag this past season making it another great year! Check back later this week for photo recap of the season.
A ski this morning found the best skiing/coverage/conditions under the current snow situation on North Loup. Skiing the east side of Sukkerbusk and Skaters Waltz was the best route out there. The entire loop of North Loup is covered with just a few areas of thin cover. There are also a few wet spots in the low areas but passable throughout. The snow is dirty etc. but being in the woods gliding on the corn snow was definitely better than not skiing at all!! Woods alive with smell of Springtime and birds chirping away. The other trails have standing water in low spots and the best skiing for those venturing out this weekend is probably to ski the above description or cherry pick your way on the better sections of trail that have good coverage.
Warm and wet weather this week taking its toll on the snow. Folks skiing right up into the afternoon yesterday but the trails are getting pretty sloppy with a few thin spots. Lack of freezing at nights as not allowed grooming to occur. There is still as base of 3″ with low spots getting pooled with a little bit of water. Skiing should be possible this weekend under wet/sloppy conditions.

Despite the soft and slow snow this past week, the Canadian group skied the entire trail system during their stay. Latest trail report on the trail report page.

Despite temps above freezing the past few days, we are hanging on to our snow and enjoying Spring skiing with soft and slow conditions. Latest trail report on the trail report page.
