It has been a wet start to the week with rain falling all day on Tuesday and Wednesday. Drier weather looks to move in, however, for the latter part of the week including dry conditions for Saturday’s Pumpkin Run. We will resume trail work after a half day of drying or so. We will do a final mowing/clearing of the Pumpkin Run course on Friday and conditions should be very good. Might be a few muddy spots here and there. Still hanging on to quite a few leaves in the woods and we seem to be a week or so behind normal. The tamarack trees are at their peak right now and really stick out among the other trees. Swans have been trumpeting on Little Sugarbush and have been fun to watch and listen. Many other winter birds making appearances at the bird feeders. All signs winter is soon to come!

A nice day to be in the woods for trail work. One of the warmer days along with dry conditions which has been few and far between this month. All in all the trails are looking great as we have a few more days to complete the mowing. Fall grooming to continue right up until the snow flies.
The trails are open for hiking, biking and running but closed to horse travel and motorized use. We will do the final clearing for the Pumpkin Run course later in the week and should be a great day on Saturday for the trail run.
Today we pulled the docks in which is another sign winter is right around the corner!
The Lotvola Cup is a cross country ski race/tour where only the traditional technique is allowed. Lotvola Cup 2010 will be on Sunday March 7th. Note: New start time at 11am. It will start on the lake with the usual blast of dynamite to get everyone’s adrenaline pumping. It is an event for all levels of ability, from the youngest skier to the serious competitor. A special Maplelag hat will be given to the first 95 registrants. Ribbons are awarded to the top finishers in each age class.
