Colder than forecast temps the past few days keeping most of the snow in place and the trails….Fast!! Excellent coverage with a compacted base of 5-10″. Sukkerbusk, Sap Run and Mother Hen groomed last night and skiing slower on these trails today. Other trails have glazed sections that are icylike/fast. The first lake crossing on Bullhead Lake trail has beaver activity but stay on track, no problem. Looks like the weather will be consistent all week, cooling down at night below freezing and mid 30’s for daytimes high. Springlike skiing=fast in morning, slower mid day and fast again in the late afternoon. We will groom on more trails this afternoon/evening with final grooming on Lotvola course to take place Saturday night most likely.
Couldn’t of asked for better conditions for the last weekend of February. Sunday on tap for more bright sunshine, light winds and pleasant temps. Tracks have been skiing quick and holding throughout the day with just a few areas of glazing in the direct sunshine. We groomed last night on Sukkerbusk, Sap Run, Mother Hen, Skaters Waltz and the extension for fresh groom skiing today. Skiing is excellent on a compacted base of 5-10″.
The month of February is wrapping up to be one for the record books for ski conditions. Hard to top the conditions on the trails today, wrapping up a fantastic week. Wow. Can definitely tell March is right around the corner with the sunshine blaring and longer days. Fresh grooming this morning on all the skate trails including North Loup which had new track set as well. Also new tracks set on Bullhead, Wavy Gravy, Twin Lakes, Mother Hen and Mother North Star. Skiing is excellent on a compacted base of 5-10″ and snow depth in the woods 15-30″.
