Maplelag received 8-10″ of light fluffy snow yesterday. We have begun packing the trails and the first skis under the moonlight were great. Full trail report on the trail report page.

Nice, steady snow falling this morning at Maplelag. As of 2:30 pm, close to 8″ has already fallen!! Very light, fluffy snow with the cold temps. Latest forecasts calling for 6-10″!! Around 18km of trail packed today so far and packing bit more this afternoon. The trails will be open for skiing but no lodging is available until December. Early season, rock skiing conditions.

Photo album of ice photos as a result of cold temps, wind, and the work of the beaver. Chewing on poplar tree to cut branches to make dam. Dam backs up water, freezes, than dam is open, water falls and ice remains around “anchors”.
Starting to look and feel a little bit more like winter. Dusting of snow overnight and cold temps setting up good ice on the ponds and low areas that are holding water. Ice thick enough on the ponds for some skating! Forecast looking great for snow chances this coming week with a possible big storm right before Thanksgiving!! As soon as we have 2-3″ on the trails, we will begin packing snow and building the base. We continue to work on the trails, clearing sticks to prepare them for the first snows.
