Trails are open. A great morning to ski! Very nice late February conditions. Fresh snow earlier in the week and daily grooming has made for nice skiing. With warmer temps likely this afternoon, we suggest skiing before noon before the fresh snow possibly gets sticky. Grooming we have been bringing up old snow to make for more consistent conditions when it warms up. Use caution on south facing or areas facing the sun on the downhills that might be sticky early afternoon. We plan to groom most of the trail system again Friday to have best conditions possible for the weekend, which look great at this point….Just Ski!
Wednesday we classic groomed on Rootin Tootin, Roy’s Run, Bullhead Bootleg lake trail, Wavy Gravy, JibFly, Twin Lakes and Sukkerbusk. Lumi’s Lake loop also groomed with skate lane and new track. Tuesday grooming on Sap Run, Mother Hen, Sukkerbusk, Mother North Star, and Twin Lakes. Skaters Waltz groomed in the evening. Grooming we are digging deep in the base, mixing old snow with the new snow. Have the old granulated/corn snow at the surface will make for more consistent skiing when it warms up today. We will be open every day this week. There are no events going on this week. Only trails not groomed since the new snow but open and with fresh snow skiing is Island Lake for classic and North Loup for skate. These trails will be groomed Friday afternoon or Saturday morning depending on weather.
Skating on Skaters Waltz, the extension loops, North Loup, Single Green, Kristin’s Kutoff and Eira Bikwadinaa Hill. All other trails are tracked for classic skiing. (Please no skating on classic trails) Sukkerbusk is a great starter trail for classic which feeds the outer trails and crosses most of the inner trails providing a good “lay of the land”. One of the first trails at Maplelag!
We have also have a loop on Little Sugarbush Lake “Lumi’s Loop” with a skate lane and track on each side. This is a fun 1.2km loop that makes for a fun ski at sunrise and sunset and under the full moon!
50″ of snow so far this season. We have been grooming daily on the entire trail system since mid November, only missing a few days.
