Trails are open. It has been a great week of skiing and grooming even with the cooler weather. Sunshine most of the day on Thursday with light wind made for a really nice day of grooming and skiing. Day user traffic has been light but we continue to groom daily getting the trails in the best shape we can after a lot of wind and almost daily light snow showers earlier in the week.
Thursday grooming on Bullhead Bootleg Lake loop, Loon Return, Wavy Gravy, Twin Lakes and Island Lake trails. Skate grooming on Skaters Waltz, Eira Bikwadinaa hill, Kristin’s Kutoff, and Single Green. Today we plan to reset track on Roy’s Run, North Loup and comb out the skate lane on North Loup and extension loop of Skaters Waltz. All other trails groomed Tuesday and Wednesday.
We have also have a loop on Little Sugarbush Lake “Lumi’s Loop” with a skate lane and track on each side. This is a fun 1.2km loop that makes for a fun ski at sunrise and sunset and under the full moon! Groomed 1/29.
It’s been great seeing so many people out on the trails so far this winter season and we deeply appreciate the support!
Section 8 Nordic Ski Championships will be held on Tuesday February 3rd on portions of Sap Run, Sukkerbusk, all of JibFly and most of Mother North Star. All other 50km of trail will be open for day skiing. Recommended to use Loon Return to access Sukkerbusk to the western trail and northern trails.
Skating on Skaters Waltz, the extension loops, North Loup, Single Green, Kristin’s Kutoff and Eira Bikwadinaa Hill. All other trails are tracked for classic skiing. (Please no skating on classic trails) Sukkerbusk is a great starter trail for classic which feeds the outer trails and crosses most of the inner trails providing a good “lay of the land”.
39″ of snow so far this season. We have been grooming daily on the entire trail system since mid November, only missing a few days.
