Snow continues! Around 3″ of new snow today as of 5:00pm. The fine grained snow and cold temps made for slower glide today. Currently around 40km of trail recently groomed and open. 25km classic only, 15km skate only groomed. Today we rollbacked Skaters Waltz and the extension. Tuesday a new track was reset on Mother North Star, Rootin Tootin and Skaters Waltz was combed out. Monday evening Sap Run, Mother Hen, JibFly and Sukkerbusk groomed with new tracks set. Monday we also started clearing deadfall and fallen branches on Island Lake and Wavy Gravy.
We are doing our best to stay on top of the snowy weather in between working on the grooming equipment today that needs repairs. We will try to have conditions as best as possible for the weekend with potential wind.
Branches and small trees continue to fall across the trail due to snow load even after grooming and clearing, use little extra caution on the downhills and watch out for the “face slappers”!
Classic only trails recently groomed include Sap Run, Mother Hen, JibFly, Sukkerbusk, Mother North Star, Rootin Tootin and Twin Lakes. We have set only one track, setting best line to avoid over hanging branches etc. For skate, we packed out all the skate trails Skaters Waltz, the extension loops, Single Green, Kristin’s Cutoff and North Loup. Expect soft conditions skating other than Skaters Waltz which is set up with firm deck but slower surface. With colder temps this week, we will wait on grooming more skate passes. Wavy Gravy and Island Lake trail have been packed, lot of overhanging branches.
