Ski Trail Report

Beautiful winter day! Cooler weather in place but with sunshine, no wind and fresh snow. nice day to be on the trails skiing! 4-5″ of super fluff snow falling on Monday adding to the snow globe conditions thanks to nearly 2 feet of damp snow last week that remains flocked on the trees. Currently 40km of trail recently groomed and open. 25km classic only, 15km skate only groomed. Today we reset new track on Mother North Star, Rootin Tootin and combed out Skaters Waltz. Monday evening Sap Run, Mother Hen, JibFly and Sukkerbusk groomed with new tracks set. Monday we also started clearing deadfall and fallen branches on Island Lake and Wavy Gravy.

Branches and small trees continue to fall across the trail due to snow load even after grooming and clearing, use little extra caution on the downhills and watch out for the “face slappers”!

Classic only trails recently groomed include Sap Run, Mother Hen, JibFly, Sukkerbusk, Mother North Star, Rootin Tootin and Twin Lakes. We have set only one track, setting best line to avoid over hanging branches etc. For skate, we packed out all the skate trails Skaters Waltz, the extension loops, Single Green, Kristin’s Cutoff and North Loup. Expect soft conditions skating other than Skaters Waltz which is set up now after skier traffic Saturday and grooming in the evening.  With colder temps this week, we will wait on grooming more skate passes. Wavy Gravy and Island Lake trail have been packed, lot of overhanging branches. We hope to track these trails by the end of the week.

Has been a nice start to the ski season with good early season conditions. Great seeing so many people out so far this year, thanks for the reports and purchase of season passes.

Total snowfall this season at 28″. Compacted base on trail 4-8″.
