Trail Report

Winter marches on! As of 8 pm on Wednesday, around 5-6″ of heavy wet snow. A snowy week after 3-4″ of snow yesterday morning. Temps are staying around the freezing mark and with cold weather in the forecast, we are grooming around 4km of trail for late season skate skiing. Many branches and limbs coming down with snow load we will only focus on this amount of trail. Skiing on Wednesday evening was good, all things considered, and should be nice skiing Thursday morning. We will be out grooming again in the morning and with cooler temps skiing should be good on this loop Friday and Saturday mornings as well. Skiing both directions makes for a nice loop and for this late in the year, special to have such nice conditions! The loop consists of east side of Skaters Waltz and Sukkerbusk. No bare spots, just a few low areas slushy, ski wide, all good.

There is no trail fee to ski the remainder of the season. Please park in parking lot near the lodge. Far parking lot is soft and muddy!

With today’s grooming in April, this is the 6th consecutive calendar month we have groomed this season. First grooming was back on November 13th, 2021.

With today’s snowfall as of 10am, this brings our season total of snowfall to 112″ and close to the record snowfall in a season at Maplelag. Considering the dry summer and fall, the precipitation will bring the water tables back up to normal when the snow all melts and the frost goes out.

Trail Report

Heavy wet snow this morning accumulating to around 3-4″. Skiing was slow going but bottom line we could still ski! With today’s snow we are now up to 106″ of snowfall on the season. The snow and base is very wet and once it cools down again we will try and get one or two more grooming sessions in for the season. Looking at the forecast, best chance for grooming appears to be on Thursday. If cooler temps occur in the forecast we could have a couple nice mornings of skiing on Friday and Saturday, especially if more snow develops.

Monday was another spectacular end of season skiing after a hard freeze set the base up nicely. Skiing was very good from 10am-12pm before getting softer and slower.
