Trail Report

Showers on Wednesday as an area of low pressure works its way through the plain states with snow falling south in Nebraska.  Cold temps yesterday morning setting up a thin layer of ice on the small ponds and sloughs around the trail system. All in all a beautiful day, albeit a bit windy, for working in the woods. Bob finished up the major cat work on the trails and Fall grooming on Roy’s Run completed. Rain today and tonight will put trail work on hold until later in the week with Bullhead lake trail on tap next. Photos from yesterday.

Trail Report

Another solid coating of frost on the grounds this morning. Stiff breeze from the south bringing the windchill factor into the upper 20’s. A reminder winter is not too far behind! Looks like some colder weather on tap a week from now. If there is any moisture to work with we could see some white!
Fall grooming on Roy’s Run yesterday. A few low spots holding water from the heavy rainfall two weekends ago. All in all the trails are relatively dry and in great shape. Roy’s should be completed today and Bullhead on tap later in the week, weather permitting. Photos below from Roy’s Run, yesterday.

Fall 2008 Trail Work

With nearly 64km of ski trails, no major ski trail development is in the works but we continue to fine tune the current trail system. This Fall, Bob, who has built many of the trails at Maplelag, came for a few days to clear out some stumps, haul some boulders and change part of the trail on Sukkerbusk. The new change on Sukkerbusk will make for better grooming and ultimately better skiing in two key intersections. Photos from the trail work.

Trail Report

Hard to believe we are nearing the end of October. A gorgeous start to the week with bluebird skies, light winds and chilly temps. A solid frost last night with all areas around Maplelag white this morning. Quite a few of the remaining leaves coming down over the weekend with just a few oaks and poplar trees still hanging on to some leaves. The tamarac trees are in their peak and are beautiful standing out in swamps and sloughs. Bob here early this week to do some touch up on the ski trails and fall grooming planned for Roy’s Run and Bullhead lake trails this week as well.

Freshly fallen maple leaves touched by early morning frost today.
