Hard freeze last night resulting in frosty lawns and trees this morning. Still quite a few trees that hadn’t changed color so will be interesting to see how they respond. The trees that had already changed, were dropping leaves Friday morning big time. Sun making a rare appearance, making for a beautiful Autumn day. Cold weather set to continue on through the weekend with chance of measurable snow couple of times by Monday. Too early for the real snow to fly but always exciting to see the first few flakes.
Fall grooming on the trails continues today and during dry weather until the snow flies for real. The trails are open at no charge for hiking, running, and biking. The trails are closed to motorized use and horse travel. The Pumpkin Run will be on October 24th.

A break in the wet weather with a dry Monday, as the precipitation stays south, allowing for the Fall trail grooming equipment to get out and do some “work”. The woods are spectacular right now with Fall color as many maples are at their peak. We are running a week or so behind on the color, most likely due to the warmer than average September and only two mornings of frost this Fall. Overall the trails are looking great and we will continue working on the trails right up until the snow flies. The Detroit Lakes Nordic Ski team will be at Maplelag on the afternoons of October 25th and November 1st, clearing branches and twigs off the trails. Feel free to contact us if you are interested in helping out.
