Fat Bike Trail Report

First grooming run of the year on the Fat Bike trails this week. The entire “FatLagChilada” course has been groomed with some segments being groomed again today.

Early season conditions, the deck will be a bit soft but after rider traffic and subsequent grooming, should be nice riding. Great to have the snow and a awesome start to the season!

Signs marking the route for the inner loops are in place. Twin lakes and SukkerWest singletrack can be accessed from the driveway. To access the start to access Bootleg, head to the start of Skaters Waltz to the right. With the early season conditions, please ride on the side of the skate trail and be mindful of tire pressure. We have groomed on the far right side of Suicide Hill for uphill travel. Access to Bootleg has been groomed on the lake. Use trails at own risk and assume all responsibility.

Ski Trail Report

Trails are open. Moderating temps after sub zero recordings earlier in the week, which was great for cementing the base, making for very nice skiing. We are seeing more local skiers which is a welcome sign conditions are getting better.

Trails are taking shape nicely after nearly a foot of snow the past week and daily grooming. We continue to groom daily, setting track on more trails and leveling and combing out the skate trails. Still some rough spots, mainly on the outer trails and always be aware for areas of thin cover, organic forest matter including leaves from windstorm associated with latest snow event. With that said, overall nice early season skiing.

Grooming report: Today we will be combing out the skate trails again and setting track on the rest of Island and Wavy. Yesterday we set track on Roy’s Run, combed and leveled out the skate trails Skaters Waltz, the extensions and North Loup. We also packed out the Bootleg extension on Bullhead lake trail. Tuesday a track was set on Rootin Tootin, JibFly, Twin Lakes and the first part of Island Lake and the return of Wavy Gravy. Crossing between Twin Lakes is still rough. Take skis off to get through or possible to make a fun loop by using both Island and Wavy trails (and Twin).

Tracks have been set on Sukkerbusk, Sap Run, Mother Hen, JibFly, Rootin Tootin, Twin Lakes, Mother North Star and Roy’s Run for classic skiing. Some of the trails only have one track set. We are preserving the other side for future tracksetting. Please no skating on the classic trails. Skaters Waltz, the extension loops, and North Loup designated trails for skating.

All trails are one way except Sukkerbusk and Skaters Waltz. Skiing correct direction, especially in early season, helps us maintain the integrity of the base. Thank youi!

Fat Bike Trail Report

New snow on Sunday around 8-9″. We will begin grooming the designated fat bike trails, Bullhead Bootleg, Twin Lakes, SukkerWest and the inner segments used as connectors once we get caught up on the ski trail grooming. Hopefully today and tomorrow!

A great day on the trails Saturday for “Global Fat Bike Day”.

Ski Trail Report

Trails are open. Snowfall of 8-9″ on Sunday bringing the conditions to very good. Additional snow on top of the previous base leveling into the low spots nicely. Still some rough spots, mainly on the outer trails and always be aware for areas of thin cover but overall very nice early season skiing.

Grooming report: Today we are combing and leveling out the skate trails Skaters Waltz, the extensions and North Loup. Track to be set on Rootin Tootin, JibFly and Twin Lakes.

Sunday and Monday we rollpacked, combed and leveled all the inner trails as well as Twin Lakes to the west and North Loup to the north on Sunday. We groomed all day on Sunday while it was snowing to maximize the base building and before the temps got cold and snow dried out.

Tracks have been set on Sukkerbusk, Sap Run, Mother Hen and Mother North Star for classic skiing. Some of the trails only have one track set. We are preserving the other side for future tracksetting. Please no skating on the classic trails. Skaters Waltz, the extension loops, and North Loup designated trails for skating.
