Ski Trail Report

Trails Open End of season skiing conditions. Temps are pleasant and fun to hear the sounds of spring including the mighty trumpeter swan and enjoy the remaining snow and transitions of seasons. Conditions have deteriorated but the trails are skiable with a good base of snow, albeit a bit dirty. Spring skiing conditions. Skiing is faster in the morning, softening as the day passes than freezing down again in the evening. The best time to ski is generally from sunrise to 1pm. Grooming: Friday morning we groomed the skate lanes again and set track on North Loup to side and also set new track on Mother North Star. Evening grooming on Sukkerbusk, Sap Run, Twin Lakes and Skaters Waltz. Thursday we groomed the skate trails Skaters Waltz and North Loup in the morning than Skaters Waltz again in the evening. Thursday evening we reset tracks on Sap Run, Sukkerbusk and Twin Lakes. Around 10km groomed skate and 18km groomed for classic. Other trails open but base is soft with mixed conditions. We will not be grooming any more for the weekend after tonight.

Note: The driveway is in fair driving condition. Best with a vehicle with all wheel drive. We plowed the road on Wednesday evening to improve the conditions.

We are closed for the season for lodging/ski packages but the trails will remain open for day skiing until a projected date of April 15th, weather and snow conditions permitting.

Nature Notes: Wildlife bit more active with the transition to spring. We have been seeing porcupines along the snowshoe trail and Roy’s Run. We have also seen hawks, owls near JibFly and North Star, fox, deer of course, pileated woodpeckers and tons of tracks. Eagle sightings near Twin Lakes return at eagle view.
