Another great retreat for the Back Porch Quilters. Although the snow had melted off the trails making it not possible to ski, the focus is quilting ,of course, and participants enjoy home cooked meals along with relaxation time in the spa area including massages… and a few folks on the trails hiking! The retreat also features special workshops and shows. If you would like to take part in a future quilting retreat, please contact us at Maplelag.

The theme for this year’s MooseJaw was “MooseJaw at the Movies”. Saturday night saw folks dressed up as their
favorite star from the silver screen with a red carpet premier and a take on the Oscars. This year’s feature band was the
old-time band “Tallboys” from Seattle. For the local band, theUkrainian Village Band provided traditional Ukrainian dancing and music. The incomparable Beverly Smith calling the squares. There was also the wide range of workshops including: oldtime fiddle, banjo and guitar, Ukrainian singing, dance and fiddle music, a jug band
symposium, clogging, squares, contras, calling and more. And, of course, the incredible talent show Sunday morning. Lots of energy, lots of Fun!! Few folks heading out on the trails but snow melted fast over the weekend. Be sure to check out the Wild Goose Chase Cloggers web site for information on future Moosejaws.

Despite the soft and slow snow this past week, the Canadian group skied the entire trail system during their stay. Latest trail report on the trail report page.
