Trail Report

Around 1″ of new snow last night. While it was snowing,  Skaters Waltz, Suicide hill, Mother Hen, Sap Run and part of Sukkerbusk was groomed. This morning Twin Lakes, JibFly and Sukkerbusk will be groomed. The little bit of snow should improve the conditions but we still need 3-4″ to have good skiing and set tracks. Rock skiing is possible with caution. The base is super thin but people have been skiing.  There are areas of thin cover and other unmarked obstacles. Snowplowing or pushoffs will be to the ground. Clear and sunny on Wednesday, highlighting the winter wonderland conditions with thick frost on the trees!  It is great to see everything surrounded in white!  The ice is thick on the lake for skating with 5-8″ being reported and we have a nice area cleared off by the fire pit. We will resume flooding the rink on ground now colder weather is in place.

We will be making a decision on the Lotvola Cup later today.

This past weekend we had the St Paul Highland Park ski team for a training camp. The skiers were on the lake performing drills, time trial and technique work. A handful of skiers hit skaters waltz and suicide hill which was skiable thanks to the crusty base. It was great having the team…thanks so much for coming up!  Think Snow!

Trail Report

The trails are closed for skiing until it snows again.  Forecast looking good for snow this weekend. All we need is 3-4″ we will be skiing again and can set tracks after 6″ of snow.  Regardless when the snow comes, we are set to begin packing after 2″ has fallen and making the most out of what accumulates. We had a great November of skiing with 15 skiable days, thanks mostly to a Thanksgiving storm that dropped 3-5″. There is a solid 5-7″ of ice on the lake and skating has been nice in front of the lodge. The mountain bike course is open for riding until enough snow for skiing.  THINK SNOW!!

Trail Report

The trails are closed until it snows again. Warm temps during the night and shifty southwest winds has melted the snow on the trails.  Blah!!  It did crust over early Sunday morning for one more ski on Skaters Waltz and Suicide Hill. Suicide had good coverage…fun while it lasted!  Long term forecast looks good for cold and snow after this warm spell and just 3-4″ we will be skiing again. We had a great November of skiing with 15 skiable days, thanks mostly to a Thanksgiving storm that dropped 3-5″. There is a solid 3-7″ of ice on the lake and skating has been nice in front of the lodge.

Trail Report

Feels like January today with temps in the upper single digits after morning lows below 0!! Beautiful sunshine however and light winds making for a gorgeous day in the woods.  Skaters waltz and Suicide Hill ginzu groomed for the first time this year. Very light fluffy snow on Sunday accumulating to an inch or less. Monday morning ideal conditions for frost flowers to form on Little sugarbush
The trails are open for early season rock skiing. A Thanksgiving snowfall of 3-5″ has covered the trails and Skaters Waltz and Sukkerbusk have been groomed. Sukkerbusk has a skied in track and Skaters Waltz has been groomed for skating. The base is very thin with  exposed rocks and dirt sections and sticks etc.  but people have been skiing the trails and enjoying early season skiing.   Suicide hill has good early season conditions, providing a good area for skiers to work out.  We will not groom again until more snow but trails will remain open.  This is a good start and 3-4 additional inches will greatly the conditions. Think Snow!
