The big trail/weather news this week so far was the freezing over of Little Sugarbush lake, the lake Maplelag is next to. It is always exciting when the lake freezes over. Ideally the lakes and ponds will freeze before the big snow flies. It did warm above freezing today but the lake stayed frozen the entire day. Should “make” ice tonight with cooler temps and really make ice later this week with cooler temps forecasted. Also some snow in the forecast which could make things interesting on the lake with thin ice but cooler temps should help freeze things down. Trail work includes the trimming of brush and new trails signs being mounted. The trails are looking great and ready for snow!
Jon checking out one of the local frozen ponds for the first skating action of the year. Cooler temps on tap for later in the week should freeze over the lakes.

The water that flows from Big Sugarbush lake in to Sugar creek makes a border of the entire trail system at Maplelag as it eventually makes it way to the Red River. Trail reports with photos from yesterday’s snow on the trail report page.
We woke up to white ground for the first time this month. Even though it was just a dusting of snow, it is always exciting to see the white stuff and pretty to see the trees flocked with snow….and a reminder we are getting closer and closer to winter! The snow might not even stick around but a good start and looks like more chances of snow on the weekend and possible system snow middle of next week. Stay tuned!
