Although the maple tree next to the cabooses is showing a touch of early Fall color, the recent rain the past week or so has “livened” up the trees and don’t look as “faded” as last week.

Just over an inch of rain on the weekend and a few passing showers on Monday. Cool and fresh rest of the day on Monday and today, Tuesday. The trails are in excellent shape and set up nicely for the winter. Frequent moisture keeping the woods green and lush. The trails are open for running, hiking and biking. They are closed to horses and motorized use.

A handful of trees have provided early Fall color around Maplelag. Most of the trees changing color have been subject to stress etc. Although we have been experiencing warmer weather this week, the summer has been cooler contributing to a different growth cycle for the leaves this year.
During the summer months, Maplelag is used for the Concordia Language Villages and we host the Spanish Camp and also the Portuguese camp at the end of the summer. We are not open for other business until Labor day weekend.

A nice weekend of riding on the mountain bike course. Pretty much perfect on Saturday with cooler temps and nice breeze blowing through the woods. A few rain showers early on Sunday but afternoon drying up for some good riding later. A good turnout of riders over the weekend and we also did some trail work on Saturday, mainly on the singletrack (photos below). We will continue working on the singletrack this week and also have been working on the new singletrack over by Twin lakes.
The course is open daily for riding and most of the intersections are marked with the key intersections marked. There is no charge to use the trails. The trail starts behind the Great Northern building and follow the maintained trail and white signs with black arrows. Click here for a map/gps profile of the Sport/Comp/Expert loop.
The new mountain bike singletrack trail is open for riding. Head to Twin Lakes and look for the mountain bike trail sign. Ride the trail to the end and ride back!! We encourage riders to check out the trail and help us pack it down. The plan is to make a 3-4 mile loop but the trail is open for out and back riding for now.
