Mountain Bike Trail Report

Trails are open. Good to very good riding condition on a tacky/hardpack dry riding surface. Couple low areas soft and holding water after heavy rain on Monday evening and high water tables from record snowfall this year.

We have been clearing on the trail the past few weeks and have cleared the entire course with the leaf blowers removing sticks, deadfall and leaves. We will continue with trail maintenance as deemed necessary. Hudson’s Hula loop cleared on Friday. As always, be aware for any falling forest matter such as sticks, branches etc.

The key intersections been marked and signed.

We are working on a new trail map and should have completed by mid June. Click here for link to old maps. The main trail head is near the resort with other trails accessible from the driveway for the Twin Lakes and Sukkerwest loops, county road 110 and hiway 34 for the Bullhead Bootleg loop. We will also have the LagChilada challenge in place again for this season. Pink signs will be placed marking the course. Twin Lakes has a “sport” option to bypass the first part that has more roots.

Summer pass can be purchased here. The passes helps offset maintenance costs. The Maplelag trails are privately owned and operated and we receive no grants or assistance for operating.

By riding at Maplelag, assume all risk and responsibility for any changing conditions that may alter the riding surface. If not comfortable riding with potential changing conditions, it is best not to ride the trails.

Trail Report

Pleasant weather to end the week. Temps in the 30’s Friday morning but brilliant sunshine and blue skies making for a lovely day.

Heavy rain Monday evening measuring to around 3″. Rainfall keeping the water tables and ponds and sloughs higher than average. Thankfully no major wind and just a few branches and a couple trees coming down with the wind.

The woods are very lush and green with the recent warm temps and precipitation. Vibrant with the first wildflowers and greenery sprouting from the forest floor. Leaves on the trees budding and beginning the process to come full circle. More birds migrating in and fun to see scarlet tanagers in the forest recently. We have been clearing on the trails and also planting trees for spring trail work.
