Trail Report

Great day on tap for skiing and the Section 8 Nordic Ski Championships. Skiers will be racing on Skaters Waltz today from 10am to 3pm. We have a track set on Skaters Waltz for the classic race and will leave it there for additional classic skiing on the trail system until new snow. Best to ski counter clockwise. The tracks are a bit hard and icy in spots on the 25km we have set but we have snow, we can ski and people are doing great. Like we said before, we appreciate the positive attitude by everyone. Use caution, walk the hills on the side if you have to and just ski. Best trails for classic skiing are Sukkerbusk, Twin Lakes and North Loup. Sap Run, JibFly, Mother North Star and Rootin Tootin also have track set, bit more rough in spots but skiable. Snowshoeing is good, nice to see people checking out some new areas this week. Folks skating on the ice rink as well and sledding happening in the back bowl. Surface conditions are hardpack/icy. Compacted base on trail is 2-4″ and snow depth in the woods is 3-4″. Total snowfall since January 1st is 8″. Around 30m tracked for classic, 15km groomed skate and all other have a packed base or skier made track. A few trails in the AMA area will not be groomed this year. Areas of thin cover and rough. Check the trail report board in the main lodge for the latest trail information. The trails are open. Trail passes for day skiing for non lodging guests are $15. Ski rental available at $15 a package. During mid week, lunch and day trail pass package available for $25.
