White Earth Diabetes Day
The White Earth Diabetes Day/Camp has become an annual event at Maplelag organized by the White Earth Diabetes Project. The organizers and facilitators did a great job providing workshops and seminars on managing diabetes, nutrition and exercise. This year the National Kidney Foundation was on hand to provide screening for participants. The day ended with Diabetes Bingo!

Fighting the Red River Flood of 2009
Thoughts and prayers to everyone involved with the Flood of 2009 in Red River Valley. The situation is overwhelming. Great job to all the volunteers and officials who are trying to save the cities and keep everyone safe. Jonell and I went up to Moorhead on March 26th to help a homeowner build a dike around their home and a few photos are posted below. If anyone needs help or a place to stay, please contact us.

Back Porch Quilters Spring Retreat
In the Fall, the Back Porch quilt shop of Detroit Lakes area has held a quilting retreat at Maplelag. This year they had a spring retreat. Participants enjoy quilting of course, home cooked meals along with relaxation time in the spa area including massages… and a few folks on the trails for some spring skiing!
