Ski Trail Report

Trails are open. A beautiful day of spring like skiing. A hard freeze last night had the skate deck and tracks icy and fast but grooming in the morning on Skaters Waltz took off the edge. Even with sunshine and temps in the upper 30’s, the tracks were slow to soften. We also reset one track on the double track trails of Poki Loki, Sap Run, Sukkerbusk and JibFly. Grooming improving the skiing but still fast conditions. Sunday we will be back out grooming on all the skate trails and plan to reset one track on double track trails Rootin Tootin, Mother North Star and Twin Lakes.

Fat bike trails closed until it freezes down hard again.

Classic only skiing on trails with machine set tracks: Sukkerbusk, Sap Run, JibFly, Mother Hen, Rootin Tootin, Mother North Star and Loon Return. Roys Run, Twin Lakes, Wavy Gravy and the first and last part of Island Lake trail now tracked as well. North Loup has a track on the side and a skate path.

Skating on Skater Waltz, the extension of Skater Waltz, Single Green climb, Kristin’s Kutoff, Eira Bikwadinaa hill and North Loup. Also possible to skate ski the last part of Bullhead lake trail as out out and back.  Please do not skate on trails outside of the designated skate trails. Thank you!

We have been grooming and skiing since November 20th. 18″ of snowfall this season, compacted base on trail 3-5″. Snow depth in woods 6-10″

Ski Trail Report

Trails are open. Springlike conditions. Soft and slower skiing today. Warming a few degrees during the night with temperature holding around 34 degrees. High temperature today hovering around 35 degrees with no recorded precipitation. Despite the mild temps, the snow and trails are holding out well and was a busy day on the trail with a “just ski” attitude by the day skiers.

We will keep the trails open since there are guests staying at the resort but holding off on any grooming until it freezes down again to avoid compressing the snow too much and having it turn to boiler plate when it cools down again. Expect variable conditions, mostly softer but very skiable. Saturday skiing could be a bit faster and icy like if it freezes down as forecasted. Fat bike trails closed until it freezes down again.

Ski Trail Report

Trails are open. Despite the mild temps, the snow and trails are holding out great and temperatures have been running a little bit cooler at Maplelag keeping the snow fresh. We do look to warm up a little more the next few days but with a rock solid frozen base underneath the snow should hold out just fine. We have decided to hold off on grooming until it freezes down again to keep the snow from compacting too much and getting icy when it freezes down again.

Beautiful skiing on Christmas Day with frosty conditions turning the forest to winter wonderland postcard. Nice to see everyone out! We skied on the Bullhead Bootleg loop enjoying the recent grooming. Crossing the north end a bit of an adventure but when coming to the marsh area, take skis off and follow the walking tracks to connect back to the other side.
