Fat Bike Trails are open. We have transitioned to colder weather and look to remain below freezing for quite some time. The entire FatLagChilada is open. Variable conditions from icy, hardpack, frozen granulated (Velcro) surface. Very rideable, use a little extra caution. Studded tires be good, not required. Lake crossing to Bullhead Bootleg is icy in middle but using shoreline is another option to access.

The FatLagChilada includes the west side and east side loops of Twin Lakes and Bullhead Bootleg singletrack loops. Ski trail segments and inner singletrack along with crossing of Bullhead lake consists of the “FatLagChilada”.

Start at Skaters Waltz ski trail and go right to access first singletrack to Bullhead. Access across Bullhead lake is now possible. Ice thickness is 9-11″.

To access Twin Lakes singletrack only, take driveway down and start at bridge section. SukkerWest also accessed off the driveway for a good starter/beginner loop.

Bullhead Bootleg loop is also accessed using the Goat Ranch road (county road 110)

Ski Trail Report

Trails are open.  A beautiful frosty start to the day! We have transitioned to cooler weather after a warm weekend. Sub freezing temps keeping the snow frozen and hard. Bottom line the tracks and deck will be a bit icy but we will be grooming daily on select trails in effort to improve conditions. We plan to groom all the skate trails daily through the weekend and will focus on the classic trails of Sap Run, Sukkebusk, Mother Hen and Poki Loki/Mother North Star. These trails have the best coverage and easier to work the snow. All other classic trails have poor to good tracks, very skiable but will be icy and fast.

Classic only skiing on trails with machine set tracks: Sukkerbusk, Sap Run, JibFly, Mother Hen, Rootin Tootin, Mother North Star and Loon Return. Roys Run, Twin Lakes, Wavy Gravy and the first and last part of Island Lake trail now tracked as well. North Loup has a track on the side and a skate path.

Skating on Skater Waltz, the extension of Skater Waltz, Single Green climb, Kristin’s Kutoff, Eira Bikwadinaa hill and North Loup. Also possible to skate ski the last part of Bullhead lake trail as out out and back.  Please do not skate on trails outside of the designated skate trails. Thank you!

We have been grooming and skiing since November 20th. 18″ of snowfall this season, compacted base on trail 1-4″. Snow depth in woods 2-6″

Fat Bike Trail Report

Fat Bike Trails are open again. Another hard freeze overnight freezing the base down and deck is solid. “Velcro” type surface with icy sections but rideable. Sunday please stay off the trail from 2pm to 4pm but looks to be colder next week for riding all day. The entire FatLagChilada was groomed yesterday while the snow was damp to compress the deck.

The FatLagChilada includes the west side and east side loops of Twin Lakes and Bullhead Bootleg singletrack loops. Ski trail segments and inner singletrack along with crossing of Bullhead lake consists of the “FatLagChilada”.

Ski Trail Report

Trails are open. A hard freeze overnight had the trails icy and fast in the morning but softened up as the day passed. All the skate trails were groomed and new track was renovated on Sap Run, Mother North Star, Sukkerbusk and Twin Lakes.

We appreciate the “Just Ski” attitude of the skiers this weekend. We look to freeze down again tonight and temperatures look to remain below freezing which will keep the trails hardpack and icy like. Monday we plan to groom all the skate trails again and reset a track on Sap Run and Sukkerbusk and other trails if possible. There are some thin spots here and there and we are delicately grooming trails to keep the base intact.

Trails groomed yesterday included renovating and resetting one track on the double track trails of Poki Loki, Sap Run, Sukkerbusk and JibFly. Skaters Waltz renovated and combed multiple times. Grooming improving the skiing but still fast conditions.
