A blustery day on the trails with the wind wiping around pretty good along with an inch or so of new snow. We groomed in the morning setting fresh tracks on about 25km and than groomed again in the evening grooming all the skate trails and new tracks on about 28km. Wind has settled down and with sunny and clear forecasted for rest of weekend, should be a great weekend of skiing on tap. Excellent skiing conditions. Soft in a few spots but repeat grooming firming up the trails. Compacted base 7-10″. 100% open on 64km. 57 km tracked for classic, 15km groomed for skating. Skaters Waltz/ extension Single and Double green, Suicide Hill and North Loup groomed for skating. There is also a track set on North Loup for classic.

Pretty much a perfect day for the DL Invitational Nordic ski meet. Definitely crisp in the morning at -8 but with bright sunshine, light winds and high temp of +8, a great day on the trails. Today we set tracks on Bullhead and Island lake trails. This afternoon we groomed the course for the DL Invitational ski race tomorrow. The course groomed up very nice and looks awesome. Might be a bit soft on the pole plants for classic. The trails used for the race will be Sap Run, Mother North Star, and Skaters Waltz (10-3). All the other trails are open for skiing during the day.

Around 6-7″ of snow falling Thursday night. Appeared to be more with the wind blowing snow in to the trail and big drifting from snow blowing off the sloughs and open areas. Chance of more snow this evening! We groomed the entire trail system except for Island lake and Bullhead lake trails. Roy’s Run was packed only and skier tracked thereafter. Compacted base 6-9″. 57 km tracked for classic only, 15km groomed for skating. The north end of Bullhead is a bit rough but skiable throughout or take skis off and walk. All trails are groomed for classic. Skaters Waltz/ extension Single and Double green, Suicide Hill and North Loup groomed for skating. There is also a track set on North Loup for classic.
