Grooming update: Yesterday we groomed on the inner singletrack segments. We will be working on the InnerWest loop this week to maintain for riding. Total groomed riding options around 18km. The “InnerWest” loop which is starting out on Skaters Waltz and following “Fat Bike” signs all the way to Twin Lakes. There are options to make different loops using the driveway based on riding ability. Any questions ask or text 218-849-7669.
Signs marking the route for the inner loops are in place and ultimately direct the course for the “FatLagChilada”. Twin lakes and SukkerWest singletrack can be accessed from the driveway. To access the start to access Bootleg, head to the start of Skaters Waltz to the right. We have groomed on the far right side of Suicide Hill for uphill travel. Access to Bootleg has been groomed on the lake. Use trails at own risk and assume all responsibility. Skaters Waltz is open for fat biking when conditions are firm. SukkerWest is recommended trail for beginner riders. Trail difficulty on outer loops is intermediate to advanced.

Trails Open Snowy Presidents Day with snow coming down today. As of 9am, around 2″ of new snow. Looks like up to 7″ possible by tomorrow for Maplelag. This coming weekend is our last weekend of ski and lodging operations. The trails will remain open for day skiing until a projected date of April 15th, weather and snow conditions permitting.
Grooming Report We will be packing the new snow this week on much of the trail system. All double track trails groomed Sunday morning and afternoon as well as Rootin Tootin singletrack. Roys, North Loup, Rootin Tootin, Wavy Gravy, Twin Lakes and skate trails groomed Saturday morning. We groomed on about 45km trail Friday from 10am to midnight, staying on top of the drifting. Snow and drifted areas on Island Lake and Bullhead/Bootleg. We have been grooming daily since December 26th.
Nature Notes: Wildlife has been active the last few weeks. We have been seeing porcupines along the snowshoe trail and Roy’s Run. We have also seen hawks, owls near JibFly and North Star, fox, deer of course, pileated woodpeckers and tons of tracks. Eagle sighted this week near Twin Lakes return at eagle view.
Trails are open for day use.Day and season passes can be purchased here. Please note due to COVID protocols, there are no lodge services for day use for day skiers. This includes no ski rental or access to coffee bar. Parking in far lot near blue recycling bins where porta potties are located.Please respect this policy so Maplelag can operate as safe as possible and remain open. There are no dogs or pets allowed.

Trails Open After a early morning high of 37 degrees, temp falling to the mid teens mid morning. Few flakes of snow giving way to broken clouds and sunshine. Wind back in action but not so noticeable in the woods and ended up being not as strong as forecasted. Wind has brought down organic forest matter but still some fantastic skiing to be had.

Trails Open Warming temps with a few flakes of snow swirling around this morning. Skiers out this morning reporting good conditions. After one of the gnarliest days of the season, the weather has settled down. We were grooming around the clock to stay on top of the drifting. Still big drifts on Island and Bullhead trails but plenty of other skiing options on remainder of trail system. Yesterday’s wind brought down a lot of organic forest matter but still some fantastic skiing to be had.
