Trail Report
Fantastic weekend of skiing on tap. All the trails have been groomed the past couple days including fresh tracks on Sap Run, Sukkerbusk, and Mother Hen this morning. Skater trails combed/ginzu groomed last night. Saturday cozy skiing with upper 20’s and high humidity. Lots of talk, hype worry about a big storm but we are enjoying the great conditions today and folks are on the trail having fun.
Frosty Friday as temps dropped nicely to -3 last night, frosting the tops of the trees. Nice to have colder temps to set up the tracks as we will warm up to the 20’s. Tracksetting this morning on Roy’s Run, North Loup, Sukkerbusk, Island Lake, JibFly, Mother North Star, Kristin’s Kutoff, Loon Return, single and double green trails. Skate trails set for re groom tonight. Suicide Hill groomed this morning and in perfect shape. A fantastic weekend of skiing on tap.
Tranquil weather on Thursday. Fresh tracks set on Sukkerbusk, Twin Lakes, Wavy Gravy, Lucky’s Loype and Bullhead plus bootleg extension. Reports from the trail all excellent and as good as it gets. Skate deck groomed last night on all trails and the surface is perfect.
Snow bubble conditions on Wednesday. February is starting out as one of the best ever! Another 2-3″ of fresh fluff Wednesday. Skiing doesn’t get any better. There is no reason not to come to Maplelag right now!! Over a foot of new snow the last 10 days with around 15″ of total snowfall! Snow depth in the woods 10-17″, compacted base on trail is 5-10″.
The DL Roosevelt fourth grade classes at Maplelag Wednesday for skiing and sledding fun. Kids had a blast and weather could not of been any better. Great job to the organizers and teachers bring the kids out! Good times!
Skaters Waltz, the extension and North Loup groomed for skating. Track also on side of north Loup. Everything else tracked for classic. Just two short areas rough on the marsh crossings but worth it to adventure through for the scenic beauty. Trail pass is $15, ski rental is $15 and meals available midweek by reservation. Call for pricing and reservations. 800-654-7711.
