Mountain Bike Trail Report

Trails open. Damp conditions after 2″ of rain the past few days but slowly drying out this afternoon. Should be a nice weekend of riding. Might be some greasy spots Saturday morning but getting drier as the day passes. Ride the corners and berms high and stay loose on the rocks and roots!

Signs of early fall with a few basswood leaves falling to the deck and also forest matter such as acorns to pay attention to. Otherwise some of the best riding of the year on tap the next 6-8 weeks!

Recent moisture has been great for setting up the dirt workon the Hudson’s Hula segment on Twin Lakes singletrack and the recent dirt work on Bullhead Bootleg loop. The the next few weeks we will be fine tuning segments along the course leading up to the Laddies Loppet weekend.

New maps are available. Click here for new map online. The main trail head is near the resort with other trails accessible from the driveway for the Twin Lakes and Sukkerwest loops, county road 110 and hiway 34 for the Bullhead Bootleg loop. Trailforks is also a great resource to use for identifying the Maplelag mountain bike trails.

Twin Lakes has a “sport” option to bypass the first part that has more roots that leads to Hudson’s Hula loop which is rolling great the end of summer. Feeling Lucky, SukkerWest and the Citizen loop good starter trails/loops for first time riders to Maplelag.

We also have pink signs out for the LagChilada challenge which is one continuous ride of the entire trail system, about 25 miles.

Summer pass can be purchased here. The passes helps offset maintenance costs. The Maplelag trails are privately owned and operated and we receive no grants or assistance for operating.

Ski Trail Report

Heavy rain moving in this morning with .75″ of precipitation as of 11am. A few signs of fall emerging in the forest. A few leaves starting to change and acorns starting to fall to the ground. The next few months some of our favorite outside the winter season. Regular rain showers keeping the woods and grounds green and lush. Overall, the summer has been slightly above precipitation at Maplelag but has been good conditions for trail work.

We have been busy on the ski and mountain bike trails mowing/brushing and constantly clearing deadfall and cutting/splitting firewood. A few storms and wind events this summer bringing down the usual amount of trees, no structural damage to any buildings.

The woods are very lush and green and vibrant with wildflowers and an incredible variety of mushrooms.

Mountain bike trails are open, weather permitting. Click on the mountain bike report for latest conditions. Trails are closed to horses and motorized use.

Mountain Bike Trail Report

Trails open. Tacky/dry/hero dirt surface conditions. Great weekend of riding. We are hosting a mountain bike camp and the rider traffic after the moisture early Friday morning on the damp dirt has ridden in the track nicely.

Recent moisture also great for setting up the dirt workon the Hudson’s Hula segment on Twin Lakes singletrack and the recent dirt work on Bullhead Bootleg loop.

We have been busy on the trails clearing deadfall, brushing out overgrown areas, blowing out forest matter and major hand dirt work on the berms on Bullhead Bootleg, Hudson’s Hula and other areas on the main loop.

Be aware for changing conditions and any falling forest matter such as sticks, branches etc.

New maps are available at the parking lot kiosk. Click here for new map online. The main trail head is near the resort with other trails accessible from the driveway for the Twin Lakes and Sukkerwest loops, county road 110 and hiway 34 for the Bullhead Bootleg loop.

Trail Report

A beautiful weekend in the woods and on the trails. Great having the Stillwater Mountain Bike team the past four days for a training camp. Regular rain showers keeping the woods and grounds green and lush. Overall, the summer has been slightly above precipitation at Maplelag but has been good conditions for trail work.
