Trails remain covered with a dusting of snow after a squall moved through on Thursday. Snow should melt off by the end of the weekend with warmer temps to return. Trails are closed this weekend with MN firearm season in place. In respect of local landowners and guest safety, we close the trails on Maplelag property.
We will continue working on the trails right up until the snow that sticks for the season comes. Forecast looks good next week for one last fall grooming push. Last minute fine tuning will have the trails ready for skiing on minimal snow. We try to have a few trails open for skiing by Thanksgiving, weather permitting. Bike trails will open for fat biking/winter riding later this month once the ground is consistently frozen.
A wintery start to November with 3″ of snow one week ago. Snow falling on top of frozen ground and was enough reason for an early season groom! We enjoyed a couple days of early season skiing and good to see a few other people out! After the deer hunting season, we will plan to open the trails again around Thanksgiving time….hopefully for skiing and fat biking!
