Trail Report

About as good as it gets for a winterlike day on the trails. Conditions were pretty much ideal for the DL Invitational ski meet today. Cloudy in the morning and then clearing in the afternoon with no wind and temps in the middle teens. Teams from Detroit Lakes, Bemidji, Brainerd, Long Prairie, Deer River, Fergus Falls, and Northwest and Battle Lake hit the trails with lots of smilin’ good times. Conditions a bit soft for racing with all the fresh snow but beautiful in the woods and could of not asked for a better day. Grooming on the trails the rest of the week as we gear up for the weekend.  Select photos below from the day. More photos and results will be posted on skinnyski.com (go to racing/results and high school section)

Trail Report

After a early morning low of -27, temp warmed up quite nicely to 16 degrees this afternoon. A great day on the trails with sunshine and light winds and clouds moving in the afternoon. Grooming on Rootin Tootin in the morning with new tracks set and afternoon grooming on North Loup, Skaters Waltz extension for skating and Skaters Waltz, Mother North Star and Sap Run trails groomed for the DL Invite ski races tomorrow. The trails groomed up very nice and should be a awesome day of skiing. No school and skiing…doesn’t get much better! Pursuit skiers will start out on Sap Run before hooking up with Mother North Star and skiing it then finishing up on Sap Run for the classic part of the pursuit. Skiers will then change to skate skis and do Skaters Waltz plus double green and Suicide Hill and finish up with Skaters. JV classic skiers will do Pursuit classic course and JR High skiers will do Sap Run twice.

Trail Report

Crisp, cold and sunny was the temp today!! Morning low at -17, rising to -8 for a high. Cold, for sure, but still folks out enjoying the fantastic conditions and fresh tracks set early this morning on Sap Run, Mother Hen, Sukkerbusk, Twin Lakes, JibFly and Mother North Star trails.  Skaters Waltz groomed early as well than groomed again a couple of times in the afternoon pulling snow from the sides. The snow is really starting to pile up after 8″ of fresh snowfall over the weekend. No official measurements taken the past few days but the base is building up nicely in the 8″ range and snow depth in the woods between 16-24″!  Grooming Monday on trails used for DL Invite on Tuesday as well as tracking on Rootin Tootin and Bullhead possibly. Thanks to everyone who came and stayed at Maplelag over the Holidays. If you have any pictures to share, please send them to [email protected] and we will post them on our guest photo album.

Trail Report

Another snowy Saturday. This makes four Saturdays in a row we have seen accumulating snowfall!! Total snowfall today was around 6″. Total snowfall in the 24 hour period was around 7-8″.  Twin Lakes, Sap Run, Sukkerbusk, Wavy Gray, Mother Hen, Mother North Star were groomed early this morning with tracks set before the snow after the 2″ last night. Skaters Waltz and North Loup also groomed for skating and a track was set on the side of North Loup for classic. Snow all day covered up the tracks but still some fantastic skiing with the snow falling and no wind making for very “cozy” conditions. Temp managed to stay in the teens making for pleasant temps before giving way to wind and falling temps late Saturday evening. Grooming on Sunday planned for Twin lakes, Sukkerbusk, Mother North Star and Sap run and possibly Skaters Waltz. Cold and windy forecasted so grooming will be on hold until Monday morning where the trails used for the Detroit Lakes invite will be groomed frequently to have the best conditions possible for the meet on Tuesday. Photos from the weekend on Sunday evenings trail report.
