Ski Trail Report

Trails Open Excellent snow and ski conditions! A fantastic weekend of skiing and looks to continue this week with ideal temps. We have been grooming daily after a very snowy period that saw feet of snow and big time drifting. We are closed for the season for lodging/ski packages but the trails will remain open for day skiing until a projected date of April 15th, weather and snow conditions permitting.

Grooming Report
Today we will be working on Island Lake and Bullhead Lake trails, packing and hopefully setting a track by the afternoon. Yesterday afternoon we reset the tracks on Sap Run. Early morning we renovated and cut new track on Sap Run and Sukkerbusk. We also renovated and combed out Suicide Hill. Saturday we groomed Mother Hen and touched up the start areas. Friday we combed out the skate lanes and touched up select classic trails (North Loup, Rootin Tootin, Twin Lakes, JibFly, Sukkerbusk and Sap Run). We have been grooming on the majority of the trail system daily. We have been grooming daily since December 26th.

Nature Notes: Wildlife has been active the last few weeks. We have been seeing porcupines along the snowshoe trail and Roy’s Run. We have also seen hawks, owls near JibFly and North Star, fox, deer of course, pileated woodpeckers and tons of tracks. Eagle sighted this week near Twin Lakes return at eagle view.

Fat Bike Trail Report

Trails open. A great weekend of riding in place. Good seeing all the riders out on Saturday. Sunday looks to be even better with the touch up grooming last night and riders yesterday helping “buff” the track.

Grooming update: Saturday evening we touched up inner segments. Friday we groomed on the entire InnerWest loop again. We have been working on segments daily this week to try and firm up the base after all the recent snow and drifting.

The 18km”InnerWest” loop which is starting out on Skaters Waltz and following “Fat Bike” signs all the way to Twin Lakes. There are options to make different loops using the driveway based on riding ability. Any questions ask or text 218-849-7669.

Signs marking the route for the inner loops are in place and ultimately direct the course for the “FatLagChilada”. Twin lakes and SukkerWest singletrack can be accessed from the driveway. To access the start to access Bootleg, head to the start of Skaters Waltz to the right. We have groomed on the far right side of Suicide Hill for uphill travel. Access to Bootleg has been groomed on the lake. Use trails at own risk and assume all responsibility. Skaters Waltz is open for fat biking when conditions are firm. SukkerWest is recommended trail for beginner riders. Trail difficulty on outer loops is intermediate to advanced.
