A rainy end to the week with heavy rain on Friday morning. Overall a nice week for working in the woods. The woods are vibrant will fall colors as the maples have hit their peak and the oak, poplar and tamaracks are beginning transformation.

Has been a warm September but cool nights highlighted by brilliant fall colors. We hit our peak on the 20th but still have most trees displaying. . We are fortunate to have a long season of color with maples first hitting their peak, followed by the oak, poplar/aspen and tamarack trees. Other species in the mix to create a nice landscape.
We continue to work on the trails clearing deadfall and mowing in the lower areas that still have grass growing good. We have started the first stages of leaf clearing on the trails and will continue right up until the ground freezes and first snow accumulates! We try to have as many trails completely cleared and cut low so we can groom and ski on minimal snow.
The mountain bike trails are open for riding. Click here for latest update. Maplelag trails are closed to all motorized use and closed to horse traffic. We continue with trail tuning as we constantly work on the 64km of ski trails for upcoming ski season and maintain 25 miles of mountain bike trail.

Heavy rain Friday morning has riding on hold for today. Looks to be done raining by mid afternoon With the leaf cover and time of year, will take a bit longer to dry out. Should be rideable by Saturday.
We are blew out most of the trail system this week but leaves are falling fast and there are a lot at Maplelag! Use a little extra caution and enjoy the fall colors!

The singletrack segments are signed by name and courses are generally marked for the Minnesota Mountain Bike Series with Citizen, Sport, Comp and Expert. Any singletrack that is not marked where it crosses ski trail, continue straight on the singletrack. Reference our map or TrailForks or Strava for guidance.
The Lagchilada challenge is in place which is a ride consisting of the entire mountain bike trail system. It is marked with both black signs and pink signs. Use the Strava app or guidance.
A good intermediate loop to ride is the Sport Loop and Bullhead Bootleg to the east. A good beginner loop to ride is the Citizen loop as well as the loops “Feeling Lucky” and “Sukkerwest”. North Loup Gnar on the north side is a slow tech skills trail.
Always be aware for changingconditions and assume all responsibility riding. The Maplelag course is generally described as a classic or natural trail which is rideable shortly after any rain events as the rain is absorbed and drains off naturally.
Trail users are welcome to use the Brant cabin for a changing area and there are also bathrooms. Please note we are remodeling in this cabin but the bathrooms are open. Season passes available on our gift shop page.

Mountain bike course is open. We are blowing out trail again this week, trying to clear as much trail as possible before the weekend. Leaves are coming down fast and are particularly thick this year. Today we are clearing on the inner trails and Bullhead Bootleg. Monday we blew out Bullhead Bootleg and Tuesday we blew out Hudson’s Hula on Twin Lakes singletrack. Wednesday we blew out the expert starter loop and the original Twin Lakes Loop. Tacky conditions underneath the leaves. Use a little extra caution and enjoy the fall colors!

Beautiful fall weather continues. Has been quite a month with slightly warmer temps and dry conditions, outside the much needed 2.5″ of rain over the weekend. The woods are vibrant will fall colors as the maples have hit their peak and the oak, poplar and tamaracks are beginning transformation.
