We have started grooming on the 25km FatLagChilada course and have around 12km open. Open trail includes the skate trail of skaters waltz. From Skaters you can access “Bjorps” and “North Star” singletrack which has been groomed. Also groomed singletrack is SukkerWest, the bridge loop and the first climb and downhill of Twin Lakes loop. Any questions, text Jay 218-849-7669. We will also have North Loup skate lane open for fat biking the next two days. We will continue grooming trail and hope to have most of Twin Laks open by the weekend.

Trails are open> Happy New Year! We are open on New Years Day. Excellent conditions. A super day of skiing for the last day of 2025! Another dusting of snow overnight. We are in a gentle snowy cycle resulting in really nice skiing! Snowfall the past three days resulting in 5-6″ total accumulation. We groomed the entire trail system including “Lumi’s Loop” which is a 1.2km loop on the lake with a skate lane and track set. It’s been awesome seeing so many people out on the trails this holiday season and we deeply appreciate the support!
Skating on Skaters Waltz, the extension loops, North Loup, Single Green, Kristin’s Kutoff and Eira Bikwadinaa Hill. All other trails are tracked for classic skiing. (Please no skating on classic trails) Sukkerbusk is a great starter trail for classic which feeds the outer trails and crosses most of the inner trails providing a good “lay of the land”.
24″ of snow so far this season. We have been grooming daily on the entire trail system since mid November, only missing a few days.
Thank you to everyone that comes to ski and supports the trails with season pass purchases. Day passes can be purchased here. A MN State trail pass is NOT required to ski at Maplelag. The Maplelag trails are self funded by operations with no grants or state funding.
Ski rentals are available at a rate of $25 for adults and $15 for 18 and under.
Compacted base on trail 2-5″. Total snowfall in December: 12″. Snowfall in November: 7″. Snowfall YTD at 19″. October precipitation (rain) at 2.7″
and around 1″ in September. Total precipitation ytd (rain) at Maplelag is at 25.12″.

Trails are open Excellent conditions. Dusting of new snow overnight and light snow expected today with an inch or so possible. Slightly warmer temps today as well. We groomed the entire trail system on Monday, working the 4″ of new snow from Sunday into the existing base and skiing is about as good as it gets. We will be grooming skate trails again this morning and touching up classic tracks as needed. We hope to set a track on North Loup as well which has been groomed skate only so far this year.

Fat bike trails are not groomed We had intentions to groom but unfortunately both groomers are waiting for parts to repair. We hope to have the groomers going soon so we can begin grooming the FatLagChilada course, the 14 miles of trails groomed for fat biking.
The skate trails are open for fat biking provided the deck is firm and set up and there are no races or training camps going on. Best to contact Jay at 218-849-7669 if questions.
