Cancelled-North Star Conference Nordic Ski Meet

Due to forecasted inclement weather, the meet has been cancelled. Looking to reschedule for a later date.

Varsity and JV skiers will be using Sukkerbusk west to Twin lakes than return back on Sukkerbusk west to start. JR High will be Skaters Waltz minus Kamikaze Hill segment.

**The race will be a continuous pursuit, starting with classic style and a quick change to skate at the halfway point of the race. 

**The skiers may have assistance in the change over process. 

**If skiers use the same set of skis for both the classic and skate race, the skier must step completely out of the ski binding in the ski transition area before they will be allowed to continue the next leg of the race.

Each leg of the race will be roughly 4.5 km in length.

***Varsity skiers will ski the pursuit format (limit 10 per school) Wave Start depending on numbers

***Jr. Varsity skiers will ski only a 5 km Freestyle race.  Mass Start

***Jr. High skiers will ski a 3-4 km Freestyle race.  Mass Start

16th Annual Indigenous Farming 2nd Annual Hemp Conference

Mark your calendars on the evening of February 28th through March 3rd, 2019, for the 16th Annual Indigenous Farming Conference, Aanji-bimaajitoon Gidibaajimowininaan, Revitalizing Our Story sponsored by the White Earth Land Recovery Project, and the 2nd Annual Anishinaabe Hemp Conference the day of February 28th, 2019 sponsored by the Anishinaabe Agriculture Institute and Winona’s Hemp & Heritage Farm.

Join us and learn about a wide array of topics and discussions such as community land revitalization, food sovereignty initiatives, tribal food and farm policy, Indigenous Seed Keepers Network, native agricultural techniques, tribal college extension programs and much more! We also feature a youth track, story-telling, films, and hands-on demonstrations.

Confirmed presenters include Martin Reinhardt (Anishinaabe), Valerie Segrest (Muckleshoot), Reginaldo Haslett-Marroquin (Maya), Jim Chamberlin and Zachary Paige, Winona LaDuke (Anishinaabe), JoDan Rousu (Anishinaabe), Linda Black Elk (Standing Rock Dakota), Jessica Greendeer and Claire Luby (Ho Chunk), Ed Spevak, and others.

MooseJaw>Old Time Music, Dance and Clogging Weekend

The Wild Goose Chase cloggers began hosting the Moosejaw dance and music weekend 30+ years ago to provide an opportunity to take workshops in old-time music, clogging, square and contra dancing, and other traditional dance forms from national and local musicians, teachers, and artists.

The weekend features evening dances on Friday and Saturday night, workshops during the day on Saturday and Sunday, and lots of jamming all day long. Other highlights include skiing, hot tubbing, a woodburning sauna, and four endless cookie jars.

Homemade midwestern-style food and lodging at the beautiful Maplelag resort are included in the registration cost. The weekend is open to dancers and musicians of any experience level.

Thursday night lodging available. No lodging available Sunday night.
