Trail Report

A beautiful winter day. Fluffy snow falling, mid teens for temps and wind blowing nicely from the northwest. Fresh grooming this morning on Loon Return, Sukkerbusk, Twin Lakes, Wavy Gravy, Rootin Tootin, Sap Run, Mother Hen and a track set on the side of North Loup. Early reports from the trail all good and a excellent day of skiing on tap. A few areas of drifting but most of the trails protected nicely and some great skiing on tap. All the trails have been groomed the past two days except Roy’s Run and Island Lake and these two trails on tap for grooming Sunday morning.

A great MLK weekend of skiing on tap!

Trail Report

Another cold morning with early morning temp at -33. Not quite as cold as Tuesday morning. Looks like one more day of frigid temps before we rebound to warmer weather. Grooming on hold today until it warms up a bit more. A dusting of snow on the trails that will be worked in and conditions should remain excellent. Current tracks are solid and well defined but grooming will clean things up.  Skiing has been doable bundling up and taking shorter loops. Skating has been very slow with the cold snow but classic good.

Slow conditions for skating the past few days. Still a few folks out giving it a go.

Trail Report

The coldest morning of the season recorded today as the temp dropped down nicely to -39 locally and a fun day to walk around with the wax thermometer. Although it is quite cold, the conditions are calm and doesn’t feel as cold as say yesterday when the wind was blowing and blizzardlike conditions were experienced in the open areas, in particular to the west. Most of the guests at Mapelag early this week from out of state and enjoying the opportunity to brag about the cold temps.  Short loops best bet for skiing today as it slowly warms up. We picked up about an inch of new snow yesterday and the trails were skied in. Chance of more snow tonight and grooming on select trails tomorrow as most trails will be set with new tracks and fresh grooming before the weekend.  There are a few areas of drifted snow and organic matter from the wind but grooming later this week will put the trails in top condition.

Trail Report

A great weekend of skiing on the trails. Conditions pretty much as good as it gets. Temps in the mid teens both days with light winds and lots of sunshine both days.  Fresh grooming Sunday morning on Sukkerbusk, Twin Lakes, Skaters Waltz, JibFly, Rootin Tootin and Bullhead lake trail and the bootleg extension. Looks like some snowy weather moving in followed by some cooler weather but nothing colder than what we have already seen this winter!! Fantastic skiing should be on tap with cold weather remaining in place, keeping the snow fresh.
