Very rideable, use a little extra caution. Studded tires be good, not required. Lake crossing to Bullhead Bootleg is icy in middle but using shoreline is another option to access.
The FatLagChilada includes the west side and east side loops of Twin Lakes and Bullhead Bootleg singletrack loops. Ski trail segments and inner singletrack along with crossing of Bullhead lake consists of the “FatLagChilada”.
Start at Skaters Waltz ski trail and go right to access first singletrack to Bullhead. Access across Bullhead lake is now possible. Ice thickness is 9-11″.
To access Twin Lakes singletrack only, take driveway down and start at bridge section. SukkerWest also accessed off the driveway for a good starter/beginner loop.
Bullhead Bootleg loop is also accessed using the Goat Ranch road (county road 110)

Trails are open. Happy New Year! An inch or so of new snow the past 24 hours and cooler weather making for improved skiing today. All the skate trails and Eira Bikwadinaa hill groomed this morning. The new snow slowing down the glide just a bit and taking off the hardness and icy edge on the classic trails.
We have been grooming the skate trails daily and focusing on the classic trails of Sap Run, Sukkebusk, Mother Hen, easy loop of JibFly, Rootin Tootin, and a loop consisting of Poki Loki/Mother North Star return on Sukkebusk. These trails have been the better trails to ski. Thursday and Friday we will work on a few of the outer classic trails. Outer trails have mostly good tracks and very skiable, new snow definitely helping but still a crunchy base underneath…..Just Ski!
Classic only skiing on trails with machine set tracks: Sukkerbusk, Sap Run, JibFly, Mother Hen, Rootin Tootin, Mother North Star and Loon Return. Roys Run, Twin Lakes, Wavy Gravy and the first and last part of Island Lake trail now tracked as well. North Loup has a track on the side and a skate path.

A beautiful frosty day with a dusting of flurries accumulating to less than an inch. The new snow did fall into the tracks nicely taking off the icy edge combined with today’s grooming on select trails made for better skiing. The coverage on the trails is good after the recent warm up. We have transitioned to cooler weather after a warm weekend. Sub freezing temps keeping the snow frozen and hard and icy like.
We plan to groom all the skate trails daily through the weekend and during this week will focus on the classic trails of Sap Run, Sukkebusk, Mother Hen, easy loop of JibFly, Rootin Tootin, and a loop consisting of Poki Loki/Mother North Star return on Sukkebusk. These trails have the best coverage and easier to work the snow. All other classic trails have poor to good tracks, very skiable but will be icy and fast.
