Start of North Loup ski trail. September 27th, 2014. Some great colors in the woods still.
We hit our peak of fall colors last week around the Maplelag grounds along with some incredible fall weather but there is some still great autumn scenes deep in the woods on the ski trails.

Laddies Loppet is a mountain bike stage race we hold every Labor Day weekend at Maplelag. We have been hosting the event since 1990, making it one of the oldest mountain bike races in Minnesota! Warm temps the past week has brought to life the forest floor with the first yellow slippers coming out today. Amazing change in the woods from 10 days ago where it looked more like mid April to now looking like mid June!

Detroit Lakes Nordic skier Zach Foltz climbing suicide hill during the Section 8 Nordic ski championships. Februray 4th, 2014.
Congratulations to Zach on winning the $500 scholarship from Maplelag through the Detroit Lakes Dollars for Scholars. Monday we will be announcing another scholarship opportunity for high school Nordic seniors.

After nearly becoming extinct, the trumpeter swan story has been a huge success in our area and a treat to have nearly 100 around Maplelag cruising and passing over the local waters. Swan photos on Little Sugarbush on our Facebook page.

We no longer “sugar” at Maplelag but many locals in the area collect sap to be boiled down for maple syrup. We serve pure maple syrup at Maplelag with our syrup coming from the Kroll’s Zuckerwald in Long Prairie, MN. Check out the trail [...]

Norwegian Pancakes served every Saturday morning during the winter and most fall and spring weekends, featuring imported lingonberries, sour cream, pure maple syrup and farm sausage along with home made 7 grain hot cereal.
