  1. Thanks for the note Tizzy. Good to hear from you. We hope to see you again someday soon! Sincerely, the Maplelag Family

  2. Vern and I will never, ever forget our trips to be with the Richard’s family starting with a fantastic family wedding one September then our return winter trips to ski! We would love to return again, just have no idea when this will happen.
    Sending you our deepest regards!

  4. Hi Jim and Mary,

This is Lynn, Roger and Marlene’s daughter. Though I haven’t been back to Maplelag in many years, I felt compelled to leave a comment letting you know that I still have such fond memories of going to there as a kid. Every few years I find myself checking this site and looking at the pictures, remembering all the good times: being greeted by Laddie after a fun day of skiing, gawking in amazement at Jim’s collection of vintage lunch boxes in the old lodge, the weekly talent show, the NYE dance, and – incredible to a young girl from northern MN – meeting so many kind and interesting people from all over the world, just hours from my hometown. Not to mention the incredible Bottomless Cookie Jar!

I really couldn’t have asked for a better annual family vacation place to mark the years growing up, and for that I thank you and your family. I hope to get out there again one of these years!

  5. Thank You for a great get-away! Our 2nd time at Maplelag and just as we remembered… Great skiing, Great food and Great hopspitality! Well worth the 8 hours to get to, as in Southern Wisconsin skiing is sometimes a questionable winter sport!

  6. Summer 1997 !! Long time since that ” Lago del Bosque ” I have been all around the world and I have never see any place like this 🙁 . I miss so much all of you .
I´dont know when but for sure I will come back

    Regards

  7. Best place ever! I loved spending my summers there! Love the pictures on your website! Gorgeous! Bisous from France

  8. Thanks for the great weekend you put on for my neice, Erin’s wedding! You have a wonderful, beautiful place. Your staff is great. The food was tremedous. I’m hoping I get the chance to come back again! It was so fun and relaxing.
    Thanks again!

  9. Thanks for the fun weekend! We enjoyed the music and dancing on Saturday night! Next year for sure we will work up some vaariety for the show! The snow conditions were amazingly good compared to what we have anywhere in North Dakota! Thanks again!

  10. WOW, I do not even recognize most of the resort. Last time I was there was back in the late 70’s. I attended with DL Young Life and also did some sap collecting with my cousin Blowtorch (Donny Tobkin). The one think I do recognize is Suicide Hill, as we were out there in the moonlight skiing, totally fearless teenagers we were back then. I do remember the wonderful hospitality of Jim and Mary.
It looks like a wonderful place and that the tradition still continues today. First time I saw anyone go from Sauna to water hole in the winter. GREAT MEMORIES!!!!!!

  12. Richards – I just went through all the beautiful photographs in your Trails section. It was wonderful to Maplelag in its summer clothes. We are all starting to get excited about our traditional MLK weekend for 2012!

  13. Thank you so much for the wonderful weekend at Aaron’s and Ann’s wedding. The accomodations, food, and activities were great. Jonelle did a beautiful job with the flowers and arrangements! Thanks!

  14. I have stated it in my last entry, I have since changed my name due to artistic views, but my thoughts on this marvelous resort is the same. Tons of “thank you’s” to the management for letting Concordia Language Villages be part of your yearly schedule. Please keep plotting that time slot in your calendars so that Concordia Language Villages can continue to use your GORGEOUS site during the summers. No other city, whether in Minnesota or not, has seen such a beautiful resort as Maplelag is to the eyes of every human being. If I could, I would live at Maplelag Resort year round. Please do not go out of business!

  15. I have visited the Maplelag Resort for the past two summers when it is used for Mar e Floresta, the Portuguese Language Village run by the Concordia Language Villages. I have had a marvelous time at this wonderful site. What a wonderful way to use this bit of Minnesota land. It is such a marvelous setting.

  16. Jay, Jonell & Family,

Thanks again for the fantastic weekend of hospitality and the best skiing we may have ever experienced! Please pass on our congratulations to Jake……what an amazing accomplishment. We will certainly be awaiting his races at the state meet.

  17. Thanks for a great visit. Everybody was superfriendly and helpful, the food was great (and accomodating toward vegetarians), the facilities were great (and probably more unique than any other ski place I’ve been), the trails were beautiful and the skiing great after all the new snow (and the moonlight sking was magical under the clear skies and bright moon). I wish I lived closer so that I could visit more often, but I definitely plan to come back.

  18. Hope the New Year is treating you well!! I am trying to talk my cousin and his fiance into having their wedding out there! Yay

  19. Once again, a business retreat that exceeds all hopes and dreams!
I have conducted workshops all over the world, and nothing compares to Maplelag.
Our MK consultants and directors leave Maplelag with a renewed sense of purpose. The beautiful surroundings, accompanied by first class service and facilities, make hosting this event a true pleasure. I can always count on my people being treated right. Your staff knows how to give the best service, treat us to exceptional cuisine and make us feel like we are a part of your family.
God bless the Maplelag staff and family.
We can’t wait for October 2010! 13 years and counting! Run for the Roses! Love, Kay

  20. Thank you so much for the wonderful hospitality you provided for the Robberstad/Hunter wedding! It was absolutely beautiful there! My children loved everything about your fabulous resort and have already asked to go back… 🙂 Thank you for making it such a wonderful weekend for everyone!

This is Fabiola from ELDB. I spent few summers at Maplelag, since 2001 to 2004. It is very nice to see how great it looks! 24. Hi Jim, Mary and Jay – It’s Hugo from 1990’s El Lago Del Bosque! I was speaking with a colleague where I now work named Marion Dow and she mentioned that she has visited Maplelag for the past 10 years or so. We had some great reminiscing to do about Maplelag – me from the ELDB perspective and Marion from the visitor perspective. I miss spending summers at Maplelag. So glad to have found your website. Maplelag looks great! Looks like the family has grown quite a bit larger as well since my last summer in 1998. Congratulations! Jay / Hugo

  25. Great clinic Monday night Jay. Thank you. I like the layout of the new site as well. See you soon!

  26. Dear Richards: We are very sad we can not make it to Maplelag this year. I have been online for several weeks trying to find someplace we can drive to that offers the many things about Maplelag that we love: the family atmosphere; no phones or TV’s; three excellent meals a day; being able to ski outside our door; having no temptations to do anything but stay put after we arrive. We also love the fact that we got to know some people last year more than while our first stay. I could not find any place that even came close to meeting these requirements. Please keep doing what you do…don’t change your offerings. Vern and I hope to return as soon as we can.

  27. Thank you all so much for helping make our wedding this past weekend everything we dreamed of. The leaves were beautiful, the food outstanding, and the weather could not have been better. All of our guests were simply in love with Maplelag. Erin & Robert

  28. Love the new site. It’s 17 years and counting, can’t wait to see you guys again in January!

  29. Thank you for hosting Beth & Shawn’s wonderful wedding weekend! We had a great time!
