Winter 2002-2003 Groomer's Choice Photos.

Photos below are select images of this past winter season of the ski trails. Most Minnesotans who like winter and snow would just as well forget this winter. We were very fortunate, however, at Maplelag to receive snow on December 19th just in time for the Holiday season. We had about 6" of snowfall between December 19th and 21st to start and this was enough to pack out and start a base. We only had just over 30" of total snowfall the winter of 2002-2003 but the key thing is that it stayed cold and we avoided the ice storm that hit NE Minnesota, northern Wisconsin and the UP of Michigan. As in past winters, we were lucky to be in a snow pocket once again this winter. ( Click here to see the snow pocket Maplelag was situated in on March 13th. the darker blue area ) We also invested in some new low snow grooming equipment and it really made a difference. We purchased one of the new Ginzu groomers, a Tidd Tech trail tendizer and used the new Artic Cat Bearcat four stroke snowmobile to pull these implements. Our season lasted right until our last day we planned to be open which was March 18th.
