When I think of the perfect day for skiing, March 15th, 2005 ranks as one of them. Hard to believe the third week in March would pull a day like today but with a solid base and recent fresh snow, conditions were "perfect". The morning temp was 15 degees, light winds from the south, deep blue skies with plenty of sunshine and a dusting of fluff snow from the evening. A variety of ski conditions ranging from tracks with solid, firm and fast as a result of fresh snow mixed with old snow and skier packed tracks on top of groomed surface. The kick wax was perfect and the glide even better. The day was topped by some fun in the powder on top of the crust at sunset and some new snow falling in the evening.
After Sukkerbusk, Wavy Gravy was the first trail to be skied. Wavy had 2" of snow on top but the track was skier packed and glide and kick were great.

View down Island Lake trail towards Henning Bru. A bit more snow on Island and track not quite as defined but still some great skiing.

Twin Lakes trail. Solid, firm, fast tracks with a dusting of silk on top.

Near the end of Twin Lakes and Wavy Gravy trails, a critter has its own trail. From a distance it looked like a track from one of those road construction compactors.

Any critter makin' clean lines like this ranks high on my list!

Skaters Waltz. Level and smoooth with firm base, and groomed the afternoon before.... and the dusting of new on top!!

Another set of critter tracks after crossing Rootin Tootin trail with a tail dragging on the side.

Skaters Waltz extension. Firm base underneath but 3-4" of powder on top. To the best of my knowledge, Dr. Neil was the last one to ski on it last Friday.

North Loup. Groomed for skate and classic for this week. I was stiding but did a bit of skating as well. Very nice.

Looking up towards Bjorg's Stump on Rootin Tootin. Always fun shooting onto the pond.

Lucky's Loype was........perfect.

Giff trying to work the turns in between the trees. A pretty solid crust with powder on top except for a few spots were the sun made things a bit crusty in the afternoon. We explored all through the woods using the trails to portage to areas to practice "tele" turning.
