Family Fun weekend March 21-23 2003
To celebrate the end of winter and the beginning of spring, we have some family and friends stay at Maplelag. Jonell and I stay in one of the cabins so we can try to experience what it is like to stay at Maplelag and better improve the future visits of our guests. Last year we enjoyed some great late season skiing but the big warm up leading up to the weekend this year melted all the snow and we were forced to other alternatives. I tried skiing on the lake earlier in the week and suprisingly was able to ski on a very unique service. Saturday we spent most of the day on the lake skiing, biking, playing basketball and enjoying the balmy temps. Later in the day we took the plunge and enjoyed the hot tub and steam room. The day ended by a trip to Ice Cracking and the famous Thunder burgers. I am sure a few folks remember the burgers during the rebuilding year.
Out for a early morning ride on the lake. Believe it or not, the traction was pretty good.

After riding on the lake, we hit the singletrack for a lap. Since it had froze at hard at night, we were able to ride on the frozen ground without tearing up the trail. The trails have a month or so before the frost is completely out and are dry enough for riding.

No hills to slide down but still fun anyways.

No hills to slide down so lets use the bike for some speed.

Ben is one of the first plungers!!
|
The most common heard phrase of the weekend; "boys, stay out of the water".
|
It looked icy but the lake provided some really nice skiing once the sun softened up the surface.

The last plungers for the day.

Group after getting filled up Thunder burgers. Rumor was someone ate a double which would be a one pound burger. Ugh!
